Outdoor Storage Sheds | Before Buying A Storage Shed

Before you buy or build a outdoor storage shed you should take a few things into consideration.

1. Your Neighborhood regulations. Many neighborhood associations and closed communities have very specific rules and regulations about that type of outdoor storage sheds you are allowed to have. In my specific area If you build or buy any type of outdoor shed or utility building it must blend in with the exterior of your existing house. When I build my storage shed I had to buy siding and roofing that were matched the same colors as my house. For me this wasn't a real big issue. However some neighborhoods will go so far as to restrict the type of material, size, location and design of your storage shed. Many in my area for example will not allow you to have a barn style storage building.

2. Price and Quality. As with anything price is always a concern. Depending on the type of outdoor shed you build or buy the prices will vary greatly. Materials and design are your largest factor involved in both price and quality. You need to base your decision on: how long your expect to have the utility shed, how much use it will get, will weather impact it, what type of warranty it has. If you plan on having your outdoor storage shed for many years to come, spending the extra money on it now will prevent you from having to incur the same expense a few years down the road.

3. Landscape. If you want your storage shed to blend in with the rest of the yard and not be an eye sore, you will need to do a bit of landscaping around it. flower beds , stone paths, yard ornaments and things of that nature can add significantly to its appearance. You will also want to take the time to protect the shed from unwanted critters. Mice, rabbits, raccoons, bees etc.. all like to burrow under storage sheds that are build on platform type floors. Take the time to prep the area around your floor from these types of potential issue.

If you take the time to plan your outdoor storage shed purchase wisely, you will have a nice addition to home. It will provide not only extra space for the lawn equipment but can add positively to the look and feel of your yard.
